Just in! Fresh out the oven! Dropped hot!
We know the podcast has been sporadic. Borderline dormant. Lately we've devoted as much attention to the show as Melania gives to Donald. But we're still in it to win it. Working on getting on a regular schedule. For now, we got two fresh episodes to share! Check it.
Partly due to the cost of life and partly due to those damn societal norms, we're all living in a pressure cooker, or maybe an air fryer? In any case, it feels like "one wrong move and you're cooked, pal!"
For example, you're the world's worst parent if you don't pause on a busy morning to console your child who is very upset about wearing a jacket, despite running late for school, and you're the world's worst employee if you do pause for your forlorn unjacketed child and then run late for work. Either way, you're the WORST.
Dara shares about her high-pressure industry and her kids' fickle relationship to shoes. Amber talks about running late to expensive therapy appointments and throwing hula hoops.
There's also a riff about nitwit bald eagles that you really don't want to miss. They're tryin' WICKED HAHD to survive, you guys.
Shout out to Dara's friend Zack who served up the perfection analogy: We don't allow our kids into the ocean when there's a riptide. But kids are often left to their own devices online (literally) and pulled into dangerous waters by algorithms. They really are the riptides of the digital sea, you guys. #deepthoughts
Dara shares her new and amazing endeavor: launching a local parent group to build support for delaying social media until age 18 (her kids are still quite young).
Amber shares her experiences securing her (not so young) teen's phone and research from a recent seminar she attended on how constant phone use affects teens. Spoiler alert: It's not boosting IQ scores or social skills. Shocking, we know.
You'll also get our hot take on Labubus (sorry for the delay on that). As always, thank you for listening, Dealer Nation! Follow us on Instagram if you don't already. And/or drop us a 5-star rating, comment, or email (howdowedeal@gmail.com)! We appreciate your support and love hearing from you.
Peace!
